Registered Clinical Counsellor

Emily is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care, both from the University of Victoria. Emily has been working in mental health with children and youth for 8 years. Prior to working in private practice, Emily worked as a child and youth therapist and group facilitator for non-profit agencies.

Emily’s counselling style is gentle, warm, and compassionate. She uses empathy and unconditional positive regard to build strength-based relationships with her clients, and to assist them in fostering resilience.

Emily utilizes Narrative therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as part of her treatment modalities. These are evidence based approaches that help clients connect their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, while remaining grounded in the present.

Emily has also completed training in expressive therapies. She incorporates fun and creativity into her sessions to help clients feel more comfortable and to express themselves.

Emily’s counselling focus is on supporting children and youth who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and self-esteem challenges. She also has experience working with anger management, and issues related to peers and life-stage transitions.
