Tanya is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, with a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology (counselling) from the University of Victoria, as well as undergraduate degrees in Women’s Studies and Child and Youth Care. Tanya has worked as a counsellor with youth, families and adults for over 20 years in schools, and community mental health organizations.
Tanya offers a direct and action-oriented approach. Her goal is to help clients identify their inner wisdom and strength, even when they don’t realize they possess these qualities. Tanya is confident applying a variety of therapeutic modalities, however, she most often uses a Cognitive Behavioural approach to therapy. This approach has been proven highly effective in increasing coping skills and reducing symptoms related to a broad range of mental health issues.
Tanya works from a trauma informed approach with adults, families, and youth who wish to better understand themselves, or who simply need a safe and compassionate place to connect. Tanya has experience treating individuals with a broad range of concerns including, but not limited to: low mood, anxiety, (including OCD, panic, and PTSD), depression, self harm behaviours, low self-esteem, exploring identity, sexuality, life transitions, emotional dysregulation, substance misuse, and grief and loss.
Tanya works with youth 12+, and adults.
